From Jingletown to the World
Studio 880 is located in Oakland, California's "Jingle Town" neighborhood, named back in the 30's for the predominantly poor Portuguese population who, as legend has it, would walk the streets in their Zoot Suits with hands in pockets jingling the little change that they had.

Studio 880 broke ground in 1998 and in less than a decade has evolved from a one-room recording facility into an entire entertainment complex, housing three world-class recording studios, a handful of audio and film/video post production suites, and 20 professional offices for music and film related companies. Renovations on a nearby sound stage and photography studio are currently being developed.

In its nine years of operation, Studio 880 has worked with a variety of great musicians and filmmakers. We've been blessed with a great roster of clients that includes Iggy Pop, Smash Mouth, Blackalicious, Chris Isaak, Lillix, and Greenday, whose work in Studio A on their latest release "American Idiot" has earned them the # 1 spot on the Billboard Charts, and 7 Grammy Nominations including Best Album.
